Red Hat UXD Team, Raleigh, NC

Principal Software Engineer  | UX Designer

I recently joined the User Experience Design team at Red Hat. I collaborate with researchers, interaction designers, visual designers, content designers, and developers to support the Business Automation, Application Services, and Hybrid Cloud product teams. I also contribute to PatternFly, an open-source design system that helps teams build consistent, accessible, and scalable enterprise product experiences.

2012 - 2021

Allscripts UX Team, Raleigh, NC

Expert UX Designer | dbMotion UX Team Lead | Accessibility Lead | Master Inventor

As part of the UX team, I collaborate with clinicians, product teams, management, and marketing across many Allscripts' products. I‘ve been the UX design lead for the dbMotion product suite since 2012. In 2018, I led a multi-disciplinary team of four to redesign the dbMotion Clinical Viewer and Clinical View Agent. We conducted user research, user testing, created personas, designed UI patterns, and a visual language for products focused on community health data and analytics. Worked with a small team to create Allscripts UX Live. This site gave internal teams quick access to our UI design system, data visualization guidelines, UCD process, persona library, accessibility guidance, and a starter kit for developers. Product teams benefited from utilizing resources that were rigorously tested with users, adhered to Allscripts' branding, and UX policy guidelines. I lead the Allscripts Accessibility Workgroup whose mission is to provide compliance reviews, guidance, and education resources for project managers, developers, and other designers. We focus on improving issues related to color and contrast, input focus and navigation, semantic markup, etc. to meet international standards, and enhance the user experience for all users. I’ve been recognized as a Master Inventor for my contribution to Allscripts’ patent portfolio and for demonstrating sustained innovation leadership. As a member of the Public Health Community of Practice, I provided UX guidance on topics such as the opioid epidemic, social determinants of health, immunization management, etc. In 2020, I started working in the Ambulatory segment, supporting TouchWorks EHR, Allscripts Practice Analytics, and Practice Management.
